Godspeed

With deep sadness, we feel a need to share that Sue Garman has passed away.  We have received multiple inquiries regarding future availability of her patterns.  We want to assure you that the patterns will remain available through this website for years to come.  We are comforted knowing that she has touched so many people and that she lives on through your work.  ~ Sue's Daughters, Jenny Arkinson and Mary Garman

  2. I cannot tell you how much your mother meant to the quilting community. I posted on my blog today about her passing in hopes that others would take a moment to remember her as well. She was always positive despite all the hardships she faced this past year. I hope you can organize a special tribute to your mother at the Quilt Festival in Houston next year. If you do, I will make sure I am there! I'm very sad that she is no longer here with us, but I can bet that the next time you see an angel she will be carrying one of your mother's quilts!

  7. As you know, your mother was an amazing woman! I never had the pleasure of meeting her in person, but I feel I know her through her writing on this blog. Beyond being an incredibly talented quilter, both in designing and execution, she was incredibly selfless with her time! Each month I eagerly looked forward to her blog post, and getting to see her beautiful work and progress. But she would go well beyond, and spend countless hours dedicating her blog space and time to show off quilts made by other quilters at shows and her guild. She would comment on each one, recognizing an aspect that was admirable, or difficult, or simply sweet! It was so generous of her, and her precious time. What a kind and beautiful heart she had! I can't begin to know the depth of your losses this last year, but please know that your mother touched so many people, and she will certainly be missed.

  66. I am one of those people who purchased her pattern for the Folk Angel Quilt back in 1997. It's remarkable that after 19 years I would track down this website 8 days after her death. That the "angels" got me here is very ironic. I am so sorry for the family's loss, being a cancer survivor myself. I just recently came back to quilting only to find all but three of the angel patterns missing from my unfinished quilt designed by Sue.If someone who has the pattern reads this and can post the patterns for Angels 1, 3 and 5, you would be my angel. Thank you!
