February is upon us already!  It's hard to believe how quickly times goes by, and it never seems like there's enough time to finish all of our quilted creations.  We have had a very busy month, and wanted to let everyone know that we plan to keep up the blog.  This month will be fairly short, but there are two important things that we wanted to share...

First, the pattern for Target Practice is now available on the website, www.comequilt.com.  We have a couple more of Mom's patterns that we're working on completing as well, but this one she finished herself in late December.  It's got a million miles of applique for all of the zig-zags and circles, and how beautiful it turned out to be!

Second, in planning Mom's Celebration of Life, we knew that we wanted to hang at least a couple of her quilts for people to enjoy.  We turned to some of her close quilting friends for help, and WOW is all we could say.  They did a fabulous job of hanging almost thirty of her quilts around the reception area and on the stage of the theater.  I don't think we'd ever seen them all hung together like that, and it was really a spectacular view for everyone.  Please enjoy the photos...

We'll see you next month.  Until than, happy quilting!

  29. I was sad to hear of your mom's passing. I took a class years and years ago and have admired her quilts. Am also sad that I no longer live in the area so that I could attend the celebration of her life. My condolences to you and your families.

  30. So very glad you guys will keep the blog. Seeing your Moms Quilts, just gave me goosebumps. Knowing the next few years I will be making five of her patterns, will be my way of paying her art forward. Over the years reading her blog, we followed her quilting journey, so seeing another of her dreams coming true, is very heartwarming. Love to applique!

  32. Thank you so very much for posting this, it was fabulous to see and to feel. I do hope you already know , however, that we all loved your mom for much more than her quilts. For me, it was her glorious support of other quilters. Sure, she published patterns, and taught classes (something that unfortunately makes some of us a bit self-centered)... she LOVED her fellow quilt makers ... the wonderful posts where she showed and revealed in her fellow quilters' works were my favorite. Those showed us her inner self - giving, supportive, generous..... thank you.

  34. A lovely tribute to your mom! Well done. On another note, I have found a photo on a blog where someone made an identical quilt that your mom was working on, Blue Heaven. The blog post describes the quilt as an original design by the maker. I don't want to point a finger, but the correct designer of the quilt deserves to receive credit. I would like to send you an email with more details and a link to the blog.

  35. Thank you for the wonderful Tribute of your mother it is wonderful to see how proud a child can be of her mothers work and to carry on her mothers tradition even in the posting of a blog I have followed for a very long time. Reaching out from Ontario Canada with the celebration of quilting with others and to continue to grow and learn this craft that binds us all.
